  • 2025 Z-ROCK PUMPKINHEAD OFFICAL RULES

    Here are the official rules for the Z-Rock Pumpkinhead Contest (“Contest”) being conducted by KRQR 106.7 Z-Rock (“Station”) and owner Results Radio LLC, starting September 22, 2025, and ending 11:59pm Saturday October 25, 2025.

    The Station may change the dates and/or terms, conditions, or rules of the Contest without prior notice. Any material changes to the Contest or its rules will be broadcast on Station, and posted on ZRockFM.com, (hereafter referred to as “Website”). 

    Station reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify the Contest as it deems necessary if it is not capable of completion as planned to include, without limitation, because of infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, legal challenge, or technical failures of any kind.

    Station Judges will be the sole interpreter of Contest rules. All decisions by the Station Judges will be final. Entry into this Contest constitutes agreement by Entrant to abide by these rules.

    By entering Contestant acknowledges that public events may require COVID-19 proof of vaccination or negative PCR test for entry, and/or may require attendees to wear masks during the performance. Requirements for the venue are subject to change up until the event.

    By participating, Contestant consents to Station contacting them by telephone, email, or text.

    By entering, Contestants agree to indemnify this Station and Results Radio LLC from and against all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from use of the prize or participation in this Contest.

    By entering, Contestants, Semi Finalists, Finalists, and Winners agree to allow use of their entry materials (including submitted image(s), Name, written material, and Voice) in Station on-air, stream, social media, newsletter, website, or other Station publicity platforms. 

    Listeners of the Station online stream may not be able to participate in or be disadvantaged in participating in certain contests due to delays with the streaming of the broadcast signal. The Station is not responsible for technological errors or failures of the phone, text, internet, email, or computer systems. 

    No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Contest is void where prohibited by law. 

    Who Can Enter (Eligibility): 

    The Contest is open to all US citizens who reside in the State of California, and who are age 18 years or older. Employees of Results Radio LLC, Affiliates, other Radio Stations, and their immediate families are not allowed to participate or win. 

    Current or former employees of Results Radio LLC, their immediate family members (including ex-spouses, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, in-laws), individuals legally residing in the same household as current employees, Company affiliates, agents, successors, assignees, any promotional agency involved with this promotion,  current employees of other Radio stations in California and their family members,  are NOT eligible to participate or win. 

    Contestants are required to provide truthful information to the Station on entry and during entire operation of the Contest. Station will disqualify any entry discovered to be based upon false or untruthful information. 

    Station, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, and to disqualify that contestant from entering or winning future Results Radio LLC contests.

    Failure to comply with the Rules may result in a Contestant’s disqualification and forfeiture of the Prize. Station, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, and to disqualify that Contestant from entering or winning future contests.

    How To Enter

    Contestants may enter the Contest 1 time per calendar year, and only 1 Contestant per household may participate. Winning this Contest is limited to 1 time per calendar year.

    To enter the Contest, complete the entry form in its entirety on the Station Website. (“Eligible Entry Form”). Deadline for entry is Monday October 13 11:59pm. 

     Entrants are responsible for reading and understanding the Contest Rules.

    Entrants are required to provide truthful information to the Station upon entry. Station will reject any entry it discovers to be based upon false or fraudulent information, and the Entry will be disqualified. 

    Eligible Entry Forms will be reviewed, and up to 20 Contestants will be selected from all Eligible Entries at the sole discretion of Station Judges throughout the entry period, concluding October 14. Additionally, up to 10 entries may be chosen as Contestant-Alternates (if a Contestant doesn’t show, becomes disqualified before the start of the event, or for other unforeseen reason can’t compete). In the circumstance where 1 or more Contestant slots become available to be filled by Contestant-Alternates, a Z-Rock Judge will conduct a random drawing to determine which Contestant-Alternate fills the slot.

    All Z-Rock Judges’ decisions are final. 

    Contestants and Contestant-Alternates will be notified of their selection by telephone, and by a post on Station Website.

    Contestants and Contestant-Alternates are required to appear in person and complete check-in at Chico City Downtown Plaza (“Contest Site”) starting at 7:00am and no later than 7:30am on Saturday October 25.  Contestants must arrive with their pre-carved pumpkin (see Event Participation Rules: Pumpkin). Failure to appear, or complete check-in, before 7:30am will result in disqualification.

    Contestants and Contestant-Alternates acknowledge this is a Rain or Shine Event.

    The Prize:

    The Grand Prize is $1,000.00, payable by check in the name of the Contestant.

    Total Grand Prize value is $1,000.00

    Additional Prizes:  Contestants will be offered a variety of “Bribes” (Runner-Up Prizes) to voluntarily step off their crates and resign the Contest during the Contest Event. The number and value of these additional prizes will be declared on Winner Redemption forms signed by the Winners.

    METHOD OF DETERMINING GRAND PRIZE WINNER:

    To Play the Contest, Contestant must wear a placard bearing their name, the Z-Rock logo, and a Station Sponsor name as designated by the Station and stand balanced atop a milk crate. At 8:00am all Contestants will place their pre-carved pumpkin over their heads, hang their placard around their neck, and stand on their crate. The last Contestant standing on their milk crate will win the Grand Prize. In the event of a tie, Station Judges will conduct a straw-poll as a tie breaker. 

    See Event Participation Rules (below) for details about the Conduct and Length of the Contest, Tie-Breaker procedures, and Event Termination (including in the case of Weather/Natural Disaster Conditions).

    All decisions of the Judges will be final.

    REDEMPTION OF PRIZE

    Prize Winners are required to appear and sign required affidavits and releases within 10 business days at Station offices, or their Prize will be forfeit. Prize will be available for redemption within 30 days after signing required affidavits and releases.

    Prize must be picked up by advance appointment at the offices of Results Radio Chico, 856 Manzanita Court, 95926 Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm. Station offices are closed on Legal Holidays.

    Winner must appear to present valid, government-issued photo identification and personal social security number together with complete personal residence address, date of birth, and phone number, all such information to exactly match the information as supplied by Contestant’s entry. Winner will sign required affidavits and releases at Station offices or mutually agreed location, or the Prize will be forfeit. Advance appointment at mutually agreed day and time is required.

    Prize cannot be awarded to third parties on behalf of the Winner, or else the Winner forfeits.

    Prize is not transferable and may be substituted for a prize of same or greater value. Station and Results Radio LLC cannot be held responsible for Prizes impaired by cancellation or postponement of events, business disruption, or other situations beyond our control.

    Winner will be required to fill out a W-9 form to claim Prize, or else the Winner forfeits. Taxes are not included. Payment of taxes will be the legal responsibility of Winner. 

    Event Participation Rules

    Pumpkins

    Contestants must obtain their own pumpkin which must be a real, naturally grown out of the dirt Pumpkin. No plastic, non-organic Pumpkin will be permitted.

    Pumpkins used by Contestants must fit over the Contestant’s head. 

    The forward face-side of the pumpkin must be limited to these carving specs:

    No more than two (2) eyeholes with max dimension of 2 inches across.

    No more than one (1) nose-hole with max dimension of 3 inches across.

    No more than one (1) mouth-hole with max dimension of 3×4 inches.

    No more than two (2) earholes with max dimension of 2 inches across.

    Deterioration: If the pumpkin’s organic material changes or deteriorates during the Contest such that eyes, nose, and mouth openings exceed maximum allowed measurements, the contestant may be disqualified. Decision of the Judges is Final.

    Hands Off: Once Contest begins, Contestant may not touch or adjust Pumpkin, without express permission by the Judges.

    Head Coverings: No head covering thicker than an average bandana or handkerchief may be between Contestant’s head and their Pumpkin. Judges will be the sole arbiter of whether any head covering conforms to this rule. 

    Eyewear:  may be worn by Contestants. However, eyewear must fit inside and be within not protruding outside the Pumpkin. If Judges determine that Contestant’s eyewear poses a health hazard or a risk of potential injury (for example, due to shifting deteriorating Pumpkin fiber) the Contestant will be asked to remove Eyewear or else be disqualified. 

    Hearing Devices: No ear buds or devices for listening to media are permitted. Hearing Aids are excepted. Devices are not permitted that, in the opinion of the Judges, may interfere with a contestant being able to clearly hear instructions from Judges or Z-Rock Staff.

    Clothing: Contestants may not display, on their clothing or person, any marketing or political messages that are deemed inappropriate for civic public viewing in the sole discretion of the Judges. 

    Umbrellas: No devices to shield the contestant from weather may be used. No parasols, umbrellas, canopies, or any attachments to the pumpkins may be used

    Conduct and Length

    Health & Well Being

    Contestant agrees to be cleared by on-site medical personnel at the conclusion of their Contest participation before being allowed to leave the Contest event site. 

    Contestants acknowledge the Contest may be hazardous and Contestants warrant that they are physically able to undergo the Contest. Contestants assume all responsibility for their comfort, wellbeing, and safety. Contestant understands they can step down from the milk crate and remove oneself from the Contest at any time, whether for physical, mental, or emotional reasons.

    By participating, Contestant states that, to their knowledge, they do not have COVID-19, or any medical condition that will place Contestant or other participants in any danger. Medical conditions include but are not limited to: Vertigo, Diabetes, Hypertension, Migraines, Anemia, Heart Disease, Anxiety Disorder, or any Allergy to the surroundings including the Pumpkin. 

    Contestant understands and acknowledges that Results Radio LLC and Z-Rock Officials are not trained in any field of medicine and cannot be held responsible for Contestant’s health and safety during the Contest.  Contestant is solely responsible for their own health and well-being prior to, during, and following the Contest. 

    Judges may disqualify any Contestant at any time for any reason. If the Judges determine, in their sole discretion, that a Contestant is placing his/her health or other Contestants’ health in jeopardy, the Contestant may be disqualified. Decision of the Judge is final.

    Contestant Conduct

    No bathroom breaks will be given. Contestants may not wear diapers or other devices to prevent urination or defecation during the Contest. Judges reserve the right to inspect Contestant’s clothing to detect diapers or other devices designed to circumvent this rule. 

    Contestant will be disqualified and eliminated from the competition if they urinate or soil their clothing.

    Possessions: Any item brought to the event for use by Contestant must remain in the Contestant’s physical possession. Items are not allowed to be stored on the ground adjacent to the Contestant. Such items are the responsibility of the Contestant who must arrange for storage with a support team member (such as family or friends). Z-Rock is not responsible and will not store Contestant personal property. Any item the Contestant needs to use must be stored in a pocket, or backpack worn on their person, tied to them, or placed on strings tied to them provided they do not touch the ground, interfere with safety, or attach to skin.

    Mobile Phones: Contestants may use mobile phones so long as phones remain outside of the Pumpkin. However, phones may not be placed or picked up from the ground or crate. Contestants are encouraged to use mobile phones to update their social media networks with posts, photos, or videos except when prohibited during No Talking Periods imposed by Judges. Contestants are prohibited from communicating directly with other participant Contestants-such communication will be cause for disqualification.

    Collaboration: Any attempted or realized negotiation between Contestants to arrange for a Prize split or related division will result in disqualification of all Contestants found to be a party to such collaboration.

    Items Not Allowed: personal entertainment devices, cameras, e-book readers, tablets, printed material (books, magazines), or any other physical item other than a mobile phone or permitted food/drink.

    Official Breaks: Judges may call an Official Break during the Contest at any time and for any reason. The timing and length of Official Breaks will be at the discretion of the Judges. Contestants are responsible for listening attentively to Judges’ instructions for Official Breaks or may be disqualified. Judges decisions are final.

    Contestants may not communicate or talk in any manner, directly or indirectly, with any other Contestant during the Contest or during Official Breaks. 

    No Talking Periods: Contestants are allowed to speak with support team members (friends, family) except during No Talking Periods imposed at the sole discretion of Z-Rock Judges. Use of mobile phones for social media posts, video, and streaming outbound media is also prohibited during No Talking Periods.

    Permitted Food & Drink: Contestants are allowed to have Food and (non-alcoholic) Beverages except during Challenges and No Talking Periods. Contestants may not remove or touch Pumpkins and remain standing on the crate facing the requested direction during consumption of Food or Beverages. Contestants are responsible for having their support team members supply food and beverages.

    Location of Contest Event Site: Z-Rock reserves the right to relocate the site of the Contest at any time. Should the site be moved after the Contest has commenced, an Official Break will be called, and Station staff will assist Contestants with the relocation.

    Challenges and Bribes

    Contestant must remain standing on their crate always during the Contest unless Contestants are performing a Challenge or during an Official Break. These following actions will disqualify a Contestant: including but not limited to 

    Stepping off the crate, 

    Crouching or sitting

    Lifting a foot off the crate, resting one foot on top of another

    Jumping

    Turning and/or Facing Away from the requested direction

    During one legged stands the Contestants other foot must not touch the milk crate or their other foot/shoe and cannot rest on the firm leg.

    Falling Pumpkin: If their Pumpkin falls off their head, the Contestant is disqualified.

    Challenges: Contestants will be given a count of 3 to begin to perform a Challenge. If the Contestant does not start doing the Challenge by the end of the count of 3 the Contestant will be disqualified. 

    Bribes aka Runner-Up Prizes: If a Z-Rock MC extends an offer of a Bribe to Contestants in return for resigning their entry, the Contestant who raises their hand first, in the sole discretion of Judges, will be Winner of that Bribe. It is the Contestant’s responsibility to wait, not step of the crate, until confirmed as the Bribe Winner by the Judges. 

    Tie-Breaker Procedure

    Should Judges determine at any time to end the Contest while more than one (1) Contestant remains, Judges will declare a tie and conduct a tiebreaker among the remaining standing Contestants and will award the Grand Prize to 1 Winner.

    Event Termination in Case of Weather/Natural Disaster Conditions

    In the event Judges determine that Weather (Winds, Rain, Lightning, Etc.) or Natural Conditions (Fire, Earthquake) are creating an unsafe public safety situation (in the sole discretion of the Judges), Judges will end the Contest and initiate the Tie-Breaker Procedure.

    Additional

    By participating in this Contest, Contestants agree to hold Results Radio LLC, it’s affiliates, employees, representatives, members, officers, directors and sponsors harmless from any liability or damages of any kind whatsoever arising from Contestant’s participation in this Contest. Each Contestant, by participating in this Contest personally accepts full liability for his or her participation in this Contest. 

    By participating in this Contest, Contestants agree to give Z-Rock permission to use their name, voice, and likeness for purposes of advertising and promotion.

    All federal, state, and local taxes are sole responsibility of the winner. All federal, state, and local laws apply.

    Unless otherwise posted by KRQR-FM (hereafter referred to as “Station”) these rules cover routine contests (“Contest”) conducted by Station and its owner Results Radio LLC starting January 1 and ending 11:59PM December 31 2025. These rules may be amended by separate specific rules for major contests or promotions conducted by the Station or its sponsors.

    The Contest will take place on dates and times as announced on air.  The Station may change the dates and/or terms, conditions, or rules of the Contest without prior notice.  Any material changes to the Contest or its rules will be broadcast and posted at ZRockFM.com.  Station reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or modify the Contest as it deems necessary if it is not capable of completion as planned including, without limitation, as a result of infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, legal challenge or technical failures of any kind.

    To enter, listeners must follow the instructions as announced on-air.

    The Contest is open to all US citizens who reside in the State of California, and who are age 18 years or older, unless eligibility is specifically restricted to persons over age 21.  Contestants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian claim the Prize.  Employees of Results Radio LLC, affiliates, other radio stations and their immediate families are not allowed to participate or win.

    No purchase is necessary and Contest is void where prohibited by law.

    Contestants may enter the Contest as often as they participate, and more than 1 Contestant per household is eligible to participate as often as they participate. Winning the Contest is limited to one time per 7 days.

    Contestants are required to provide truthful information to the Station on entry and during entire operation of the Contest. Station will reject any entry it discovers to be based upon false or fraudulent information.

    The Station will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the Contest eligibility requirements. Station, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, and to disqualify that contestant from entering or winning future contests.

    The Prize and its total value will be indicated when the Station announces the Contest.

    Winner will be selected and awarded in the manner announced by the Station. Chance of winning depends on number of entries.

    Winner will be notified of their prize by telephone.  If the initial winner cannot be contacted or fails to appear and sign required affidavits and releases within 5 business days, the prize will be forfeited.  The prize will be awarded to the winner within 30 days after signing required affidavits and releases.

    The Station reserves the right to make rule changes which become effective upon announcement on air and in writing posted on this website. Failure to comply with rules may result in a contestant’s disqualification.

    All decisions of the judges will be final.
