The United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs met in Vienna last Thursday and cannabis was one of their hot topics.
Apparently CBD is causing a bit of confusion globally because it doesn’t have psychoactive powers but can help with myriad conditions like chronic pain, anxiety and sleep disorders. However, The World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation to remove marijuana from the most restrictive global drug scheduling category is apparently being backed by the Unites States. The classification of CBD is murky globally though.
“The status or stigma of being in Schedule IV did not prevent the dramatic escalation of cannabis use,” said Patt Prugh from the State Department, “And it is unlikely that removing it will lead to any increase.”
